Kim Victoria Cattrall born 21 August 1956, is a British Canadian actor from Canada. She is most well-known for her character as Samantha Jones in the HBO Sex and the City series for which she was nominated for five Emmy Awards as well as the four Golden Globe Award, winning the Golden Globe 2002 for the most outstanding supporting actress. Her character was the same in the film Sex and the City 2008 and Sex and the City 2 2010. She is also known for her role as the lead in 1980s movies Police Academy Big Trouble in Little China Mannequin and Porky's. Kim Cattrall's role in the HBO television sitcom Sex & the City is one of the most memorable. The well-known actress' portrayal of the character of Samantha Jones has been a defining moment in her career. This was more than an instant hit with audiences in her home country however, it made her a global star. Her most well-known performance was from the film comedy drama La Dolce Vita. In the year 1960, the film was awarded an Oscar along with the Golden Palm by the Cannes Film Festival. The film was also a critical and commercial success. Before beginning her acting profession, she was a Swedish fashion model. She was crowned Miss Sweden. In the US She began appearing in movies with minor roles. In the film Abbott and Costello Go to Mars she was credited as an Venusian. In the following year, her performance on the screen in Blood Alley won her the Golden Globe for Most Promising young actor.
